Burlington, CO – Landspouts

August 22, 2024

On August 22, 2024 a very obvious landspout target emerged. Shear was a bit questionable for long lived supercells but never the less, I went out.

I was running a bit behind, and saw the first landspout develop around 6:00pm MDT (0000z) as I moved East bound on I-70, just East of Burlington.

That landspout quickly died, and about 3 minutes later, another weak landspout formed just Southeast of that one, and lasted a few minutes. 6:06pm MDT (0006z)

After this, I decided to head Eastward towards Kanorado, as the storm appeared to be taking on some supercell structure.

This incredible structure lasted for about 30min, with intermittent funnels on the leading edges and inconclusive dirt whirls.

After this occurred, I drove even further East before viewing highbased structure on a dying storm west of Goodland.
